Hybrid Bermudagrass Sprigging
Hybrid bermudagrass (a non-GMO crop) is propagated vegetatively rather than by seed. A "sprig" is simply a fresh bermudagrass rhizome or stolon that is transplanted from our field to yours. We currently offer sprigging of Coastal, Tifton 44, Ozark, and Tifton 85 bermudagrass. We offer turnkey jobs as well as a la carte services.
Pasture Establishment by Seed
Many types of forage crops, such as fescue, seeded bermudagrass, clover, millet, ryegrass, cereal rye, bahiagrass, and wheat are planted by seed. Let us know if we can help you establish your crop!
Pasture and Hayfield Maintenance
Our offerings include site evaluation, soil testing and analysis, applying fertilizer and lime, controlling weeds and insects, mowing, and more. We might even be able to bale your hay for you.
One-on-One Consulting
We offer custom consulting at your farm by appointment. If you own land, but you're not sure where to turn to start managing it, we're a great place to begin!
Farm Inspections
Are you considering purchasing a few acres of real estate? Develop a Farm Business Plan
Do you have a dream of farming, but you're not sure what to expect in terms of revenue and expenses? We can break that down for you. We will talk through the major costs and revenue streams for your farm and develop a plan to hopefully make your agricultural dream profitable.
Land Clearing
We can bush hog overgrown meadows and return them to a manageable state. If the trees are simply too large, we will work with a land clearing company that has a bulldozer, a skid steer, and a mini excavator to get your job done right.
Road Building
Do you need to build a road on your property? We'll have your gravel delivered, level your road, and manage the whole process from beginning to end.
Animal Facility Design
We can help you design and even build your fencing and animal containment facilities. Smart animal handling systems will make your life much easier!
Custom Cattle Handling
We can haul cattle, and in addition, with our multi-pen containment area, (including a chute and head gate), we are equipped to tackle most cattle handling tasks. We could work your cattle for you, or we could work with you to teach you the ropes!
Custom Hay Baling
If you have a hayfield that you need cut and baled, give us a call! While we can't take on every hay baling project because our time is limited, we would be happy to speak with you about your needs.
Custom Farming
If you need help managing a crop (even a specialty crop), give us a call. While we don't have experience with every single crop, we have worked with farmers who produce crops ranging from hay to blackberries to truffles. Yes, we've even helped another farm produce Black Périgord truffles!
Bulk Hay and Straw Deliveries
We work with a network of hay and straw farmers to supply mulch for large erosion control projects (on the scale of hundreds or even thousands of round bales per project). Do you need large quantities of hay (whether for horses, cows, goats, or mulch)? Give us a call!
Spring Hills Farms
Several years ago, the owner of this special piece of Moore County history engaged us to help revitalize his new 250-acre farm while preserving its heritage and rural character.
Over the past few years, we’ve sprigged 94 acres of hybrid bermudagrass hayfields on this property, we’ve helped to preserve a barn built in 1901, we’ve helped manage a portion of the property for Black Périgord truffle production, and much more. We are continuing to beautify this property for use as a wedding venue while continuing to maintain it as a working farm.
Waymaker Farm
We are pleased to have mentored the Steyne family of Waymaker Farm as they have been drawn to agriculture over the past several years. We hosted the Steynes for an intensive, multi-week class covering a variety of topics relating to animal agriculture a few years ago, and today, Waymaker farm raises and sells a variety of products, including eggs, pork, dairy, lamb, and chicken.
Sarcastic Sow Farm
We have been pleased to host the Hartness family for our on-farm classes and to watch them grow their pork, dairy, and egg operation!
The Challis Stead
We're excited to watch the Challis family continue to grow their Moore County farm and business! The Challis family engaged us for farm consulting, and they are now using our beef fat to render tallow for their handmade products.
